No-Code Automation

Automate your operations
without writing a single line of code.

Fulfil's automation rules let you configure triggers, conditions, and actions through drop-down menus. No developers, no customizations, no technical knowledge required.

How it works

Three parts. All drop-down menus.

Every automation rule has a trigger, optional conditions, and an action. No code required.

01 / TRIGGER

Pick a trigger.

Choose when the rule fires (e.g. when a sales order is confirmed, a shipment is packed, an invoice is posted, and more).

02 / CONDITIONS

Set conditions.

Filter which records the rule applies to. Trigger on all records, records matching all conditions, or any condition.

03 / ACTION

Choose an action.

Select what happens when the rule fires. Route to a warehouse, post to Slack, buy a shipping label, and more.

35+ triggers across every workflow

Each trigger fires when a record reaches a specific state. Select the trigger from a drop-down menu.

Common automation rules

Here's how DTC operations and finance teams use automation rules in practice.

Sales Orders & Returns

  • Add additional sales line items. Marketing items, promotional giveaways, or sale items.
  • COGS override. Record influencer or marketing order costs to a different expense GL rather than typical COGS.
  • Channel segments. Denote the origin of sales orders for layered reporting.
  • Return routing. Route all returns to the same warehouse regardless of where the original order shipped from.

Shipping

  • Warehouse routing. Based on delivery location, available inventory, or both.
  • Holding shipments. Hold shipments for an hour or two to allow time for customer service changes (address updates, cancellations, exchanges) before passing to the 3PL.
  • Shipping instructions. Add special handling instructions for hazardous materials or products needing special care.
  • Updating the carrier. Switch from FedEx Ground to USPS for PO boxes or military addresses.
  • Adding consumables. Track packaging materials, boxes, and mailing inserts by adding them to shipments.
  • Buying the label. Trigger label purchase at the point of picking to save seconds at packing.

Purchasing & AP

  • Approval workflows. Ensure only certain users approve POs.
  • Emailing suppliers automatically. Send PO details on confirmation.
  • Invoice approval. Appropriate users approve before posting.
  • Export to bill pay. Automatically export invoice details to platforms like Bill.com or Veem.

Manufacturing

  • Overhead costs. Add consistent overhead to production costs.
  • Production planning. Set production dates and priorities.
  • FEFO (First Expiring, First Out). Ensure soonest-expiring raw materials get picked first for production, and soonest-expiring finished goods get assigned to shipments.

FAQ

Questions? Answers.

Do I need a developer to set up automation rules in Fulfil?
No. Automation rules are configured entirely through drop-down menus. You select a trigger, set optional conditions, and choose an action. No code, no developers, no customizations required.
Can I set conditions on when an automation rule fires?
Yes. You can trigger on all records, records matching all of a list of specific conditions, or records matching any of a list of specific conditions. This gives you precise control over which orders, shipments, or invoices the rule applies to.
What can automation rules do in Fulfil?
Automation rules can route orders to warehouses, apply price lists, set fulfillment strategies, post to Slack, send emails, send events to Klaviyo, buy shipping labels, create tasks, explode BOMs, set carrier options, manage production batches, process EDI documents, and much more.
Can I automate order routing to different warehouses?
Yes. You can set automation rules to route orders to the next available warehouse based on inventory, geography, product type, or any other condition. Rules can also split unavailable items to a new shipment automatically.
Can automation rules integrate with Slack and Klaviyo?
Yes. Automation rules can post notifications to Slack channels and send events to Klaviyo when specific triggers fire, such as when an order is confirmed or a shipment is delivered.
How do automation rules work with EDI and wholesale orders?
Automation rules can process purchase orders received via EDI, send documents via EDI, request approvals, and handle the full wholesale workflow automatically when orders reach specific states.
Can I automatically send an email when an order ships?
Yes. Set a trigger on Customer Shipments Shipped (Done) and choose the Send Email action. You can send to the customer, your team, or any email address. The same approach works for any trigger, so you can send emails when invoices are posted, returns are received, or production orders are completed.
Can I send a Slack notification when something changes in my ERP?
Yes. The Post to Slack action can be attached to any trigger. Common setups include notifying a channel when a high-value order is confirmed, when a shipment fails label generation, or when a return is received. No Zapier or middleware needed.
Can I send events to Klaviyo from my ERP?
Yes. The Send Event to Klaviyo action lets you push events to Klaviyo when records change in Fulfil. For example, trigger a Klaviyo flow when a customer shipment is delivered or when an order is confirmed. This connects your operational data directly to your email marketing without third-party middleware.
What is eCommerce automation for DTC brands?
eCommerce automation uses rules to handle repetitive operational tasks without manual intervention. For DTC brands, this includes automatically routing orders to the right warehouse, applying shipping carriers based on delivery address, holding shipments for customer service changes, adding promotional items to orders, and sending notifications when key events happen. Fulfil lets operations and finance teams configure all of this through drop-down menus with no code required.

Agentic ERP

Run it with your own AI agents.

No-code rules handle the routine; your own AI agents handle the rest. Fulfil is an agentic ERP, point Claude Code or Cursor at the CLI to automate multi-step tasks, or ask Claude to query and edit live records over MCP when a job needs judgment a fixed rule can't cover.
