The Fulfillment Lab (GFS) 3PL Integration
Connect The Fulfillment Lab on the GFS platform to send customer shipments, import tracking, send supplier ASNs, create return RMAs, and reconcile inventory as a cycle count.
Overview
The Fulfillment Lab, on the GFS (Global Fulfillment System) platform, is a third-party logistics provider that picks, packs, and ships your orders. Fulfil's native integration sends customer shipments to GFS as orders, imports tracking as GFS ships them, sends supplier shipments as inbound ASNs and imports the receipts, creates and tracks return RMAs, and reconciles GFS's per-warehouse inventory as a cycle count. Fulfil connects to GFS using two sets of credentials — a Store ID and Secret for sending orders, and an API token for reads, ASNs, and webhooks — and maps a single Fulfil warehouse to the GFS warehouse that fulfills from it.
Type: Direct 3PL Integration
Capabilities
- Outbound D2C and wholesale customer shipments, with the carrier and tracking number returned per order
- Real-time tracking over a GFS webhook, subscribed automatically when you connect, with a scheduled poll as a fallback
- Partial shipments, with the remaining items deferred to a new shipment
- Bundle products sent as component SKUs rather than the parent bundle SKU
- Whole-order cancellation before the order ships
- Supplier shipment ASNs, flagged as pallets or boxes, with full and partial receipts
- Return RMAs created against the original GFS order, with returned items imported as they're received
- Full per-warehouse inventory snapshots imported as a cycle count
- Product matching to GFS by SKU using GFS's own product list
Supported Actions
From Fulfil to GFS:
- Send assigned customer shipments as orders, with the requested carrier and service
- Send draft supplier shipments as inbound ASNs
- Send return RMAs for orders being returned
- Send order cancellations (applied while the order has not yet shipped)
From GFS to Fulfil:
- Receive the carrier and tracking number on fulfilled shipments
- Confirm inbound receipts, including partial receipts
- Import returned items and quantities as GFS receives them
- Import full per-warehouse inventory snapshots as a cycle count
Best For
- Hands-off DTC fulfillment: Brands that want GFS to pick, pack, and ship while Fulfil stays the system of record for orders, inventory, and finance
- Returns visibility: Operations that need return RMAs and receipts flowing back automatically rather than reconciled by hand
- Accurate stock: Teams that want GFS's warehouse counts reconciled into Fulfil as scheduled cycle counts
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Create a GFS Warehouse in Fulfil
- Navigate to Inventory & Stock > Locations
- Create a warehouse with Warehouse Type set to 3PL and 3PL Source set to The Fulfillment Lab
Step 2: Connect to GFS
You'll need the following from GFS:
- Store ID and Store Secret: used to send orders
- API Token: used for reads, ASNs, returns, and webhooks
-
Warehouse Code: the GFS warehouse identifier that fulfills your orders
-
Navigate to Settings > Integrations and click Setup New Integration
- Select The Fulfillment Lab, name the integration, and click Next
- Enter your Store ID, Store Secret, and API Token, then click Connect (leave Test mode off for a live account)
- Select the Fulfil Warehouse you created, enter the Warehouse Code, and click Save
Connecting subscribes Fulfil to a GFS webhook automatically, so order and tracking updates arrive as they happen.
Step 3: Enable Schedulers
On the warehouse location page, add schedules for each action you want to automate:
- Send customer shipments: sends assigned shipments to GFS as orders
- Get customer shipment advices: imports the carrier and tracking numbers, marking shipments Done
- Send supplier shipments: exports draft supplier shipments to GFS as ASNs
- Get inventory receipts: marks supplier shipments received once GFS confirms
- Get cycle counts: imports a full inventory snapshot from GFS as a cycle count
- Send returns and Get return advices: send return RMAs and import returned items
Select an interval for each schedule and save.
Step 4: Set Up Products
GFS does not accept product records from Fulfil, so there is no Send to 3PL step. Set your products up in GFS first and make sure each product's SKU in GFS matches the SKU in Fulfil. Fulfil looks up each SKU in GFS's product list to match shipments, ASNs, receipts, and inventory to the right product.
How It Works
Outbound Shipments
Orders imported from your channels create customer shipments. The scheduler sends assigned shipments to GFS with the carrier and service you set as the requested ship method. GFS picks, packs, and ships, and returns the carrier it actually used along with the tracking number, which Fulfil records against the shipment. Cancelling a shipment in Fulfil sends a cancellation to GFS on the next run, and GFS accepts it only while the order has not yet shipped.
Inbound Shipments
Supplier shipments send to GFS as ASNs, flagged as pallets or boxes based on the shipment's packages, with the inbound carrier and tracking number when available. As goods arrive, GFS confirms the received quantities; Fulfil marks the shipment Done on a full receipt and starts a new supplier shipment for the shortfall on a partial receipt.
Returns
Fulfil creates a return RMA against the original GFS order, and imports the returned items and quantities as GFS receives them, so a return is reconciled without leaving Fulfil.
Inventory Snapshots
GFS reports inventory as a full per-warehouse export rather than incremental adjustments. Importing a snapshot builds a cycle count in Fulfil, so counts stay accurate without Fulfil reconstructing them from movement history. GFS does not report incremental adjustments such as damages or shrinkage.
