Warehouse Bin Location Label Generator

Generate standardized location labels for your warehouse following industry best practices. Create unique IDs for every aisle, bay, level, and bin.

Configure Your Warehouse Structure

Recommended Convention: Use letters for aisles (A, B, C...) and numbers for everything else (bays, levels, bins).

Research shows it's easier for people to rank numbers than letters at a glance, making warehouse navigation faster and reducing errors.

Aisles

Main corridors in your warehouse

Best Practices for Aisles

  • Use letters (A, B, C...) if you have fewer than 10 aisles
  • For 10+ aisles, consider using numbers instead (easier to find Aisle 10 vs Aisle K)
  • Supports cross-aisle picking with one-way traffic and odd-even section numbering

Bays / Sections

Vertical storage areas along each aisle

Best Practices for Sections/Bays

  • Use odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right of the aisle
  • Always use zero prefix (01, 02, not 1, 2) for proper sorting in spreadsheets
  • This prevents sorting issues: A01 and A11 sort correctly, but A1 and A11 won't

Levels / Shelves

Horizontal shelf positions within each bay

Best Practices for Shelves/Levels

  • Count from the lowest shelf, starting with 1 and counting upwards
  • Floor level can be considered level 1 if you store items on the floor
  • Shelves 4 and above are typically overstock/non-pickable locations requiring forklift or ladder

Individual storage positions within each shelf (optional)

Best Practices for Bins/Positions

  • Assign positions from left to right within each shelf
  • Boxes, pallets, or dividers usually separate these positions
  • Use tape to mark positions where there are no physical separators
  • Only use bins for larger warehouses with high SKU counts
