How does Fulfil import AfterPay settlements?
AfterPay is a buy now, pay later service that exports your settlement files to an S3 bucket. Fulfil imports those files automatically, bringing in customer payments, refunds, and fees. AfterPay creates and manages the S3 bucket, so no technical setup is needed on your side.
How are AfterPay transactions reconciled?
Fulfil matches each settlement transaction against the payment gateway transaction imported from your sales channel using amount, reference number, and GL account. When AfterPay pays out to your bank, you reconcile that transfer with a bank rule set to Transfer.
How are AfterPay fees handled?
Configuring a Fees Account is required for AfterPay. With it, Fulfil books each transaction's fees automatically as the payment reconciles, debiting your fees expense account and crediting the AfterPay bank account. Without it, you record fees manually.
What do I need to set up the integration?
You request settlement data access from your AfterPay Account Manager, who provides a Merchant ID and Secret Key and sets up the S3 bucket. You then generate an Access Key ID and Secret Access Key through the AWS portal and enter them in Fulfil along with the Merchant ID.
What transaction data comes through?
Each settlement record includes the transaction ID, settlement date, amount, AfterPay fees, a reference for matching, and the type: payment, refund, or adjustment. That gives Fulfil what it needs to match payments and book fees automatically.
Does reconciliation require manual matching?
Customer payments and refunds reconcile automatically against your sales-channel payment gateway transactions, so there is no manual matching for those. The payout deposit into your bank is reconciled through a bank rule you set up once.
